Getting Around Oahu


When you’re on Oahu you’ve got a lot of different choices when it comes to transport. We’ve put a list together to make it easier.

The Bus - The bus system is fantastic, you can get pretty much anywhere on the island. You can go from your Waikiki hotel to the Zoo or you might want to go to the North Shore to watch some surfing. To make things even easier download the app.


Uber - If you have an Uber app from home it will work exactly the same way in Hawaii. If you dont have the app it is very easy to download & get an account set up. The best part is before you book it will tell you the estimated price so you wont get a shock once you arrive at your destination. 


Private driver - If you dont feel comfortable driving while you’re on holidays you have the option of hiring a driver. They will take you on island tours, a day of shopping or just to drop you at the beach. 


Turo - It’s a great alternative to a car hire company, the best way to describe it would be AirBNB for cars. You rent from a private owner from as little as $25 for a late model car or you can hire a BMW 4WD. The choices are endless. When you’ve booked you arrange to meet the owner & off you go.

 Walking - It really is a great way to get around Waikiki, it is completely flat so it’s easy walking from one side to the other while checking out the shops or wandering along the beach.
